The Illankai Tamil Arasu Kachchi (ITAK) secured 7,634 votes in Jaffna electorate of the Jaffna District while EPDP came in second with 5,545 votes. The Ahila Ilankai Tamil Congress (AITC) secured 4,642 votes while the SLFP received 1,469 votes.

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) has called on the National Election Commission to conduct repolling at two polling stations in Nikawaretiya and one Polling station in Kobeigane.
