The Colombo High Court today issued summons on former Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka to appear in court on October 21.

Despite seeking a two-thirds majority at the upcoming Parliamentary Election, the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) on Monday said it would attempt to foster a balance of power in the House by being a “self-reflective” party that would work with the Opposition to improve accountability through the vibrant function of Parliamentary bodies such as the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE).

The Election Commission will request the Acting Inspector General of Police Chandana Wickramaratne to grant candidates the opportunity to engage in political activities fulltime until the conclusion of the Parliamentary Election if arrested, as there are only 14 days till the election date.

මෙවර පාර්ලිමේන්තු මැතිවරණයේදී ශ්‍රී ලංකා පොදු ජන පෙරමුණු කළුතර දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ අද්විතීය ජයග්‍රහණයක් ලබා ගැනීම ස්ථිර බවත් දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ පාර්ලිමේන්තු ආසන හතේම හිමිකම පොදුජන පෙරමුණට හිමිවන බවත් ශ්‍රී ලංකා පොදුජන පෙරමුණු කළුතර දිස්ත්‍රික් පාර්ලිමේන්තු මැතිවරණ අපේක්ෂක, හිටපු රාජ්‍ය ඇමැති විදුර වික්‍රමනායක පැවසීය.

ජාතික ආණ්ඩුවක් සෑදීමට ශ්‍රී ලංකා පොදුජන පෙරමුණට අවශ්‍ය නොමැති බව ගම්පහ දිස්ත්‍රික් අපේක්ෂක ප්‍රසන්න රණතුංග මහතා පවසයි.
