The Court of Appeal today dismissed without hearing the writ petition filed by lawyers of imprisoned Minister Ranjan Ramanayake seeking an injunction restraining him from losing his parliamentary seat.

Opposition MP and former regime’s Economic Reforms Minister Dr. Harsha de Silva yesterday called on the Government to be transparent on its loan repayment plan, urging that there is a credible need to engage investors on a debt restructuring policy.

Parliament will sit five days this week with two days allocated to debate the report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry that looked into political victimisation under the previous regime.

The debate will take place on 8 and 9 March.
