President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has pointed out that investors should be encouraged to invest in areas outside of Colombo as a solution to urban congestion and they should be provided with new technology and advanced infrastructure. President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has instructed the Foreign Relations Ministry to get back all Sri Lankan students in Wuhan, China as soon as the Chinese authorities lift the travel restrictions to the province. The President's Office said there were 30 students in Wuhan and the Ministry was instructed to get the assistance of the Sri Lankan Embassy in Beijing, Consulate office in Hubei and Srilankan Airlines to get the students back. It said the cost of the operation will be borne by the government.

Higher Education Minister Bandula Gunawardane said yesterday that no decision had been taken to shut down university colleges and the future of the students would be ensured while being allowed to obtain degrees through the University of Vocational Technology (UNIVOTEC).
