Fairly Strong winds (40-50kmph) gusting up to (70-80) Kmph can be expected during showers/thundershowers.”Meanwhile on marine weather, the Meteorology Department issued an advisory for heavy showers, strong winds and rough seas in the deep and shallow sea areas to the South of the island.

Just over 140 incidents of rape, 42 cases of serious sexual abuse and 54 cases of child abuse have been reported from various police divisions in the country in the first 15 days of 2020.
