The Cabinet of Ministers approved a proposal presented by Trade Minister Bandula Gunawardena to implement the Export Production Villages program. This program will have the dual goal of developing rural production within a formal enterprise model and link those with the export supply chain, as well as to upgrade local production industries as import replacements.

The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, headed by Basil Rajapksa, decided to cancel the two days allocated for people to visit supermarkets and grocery stores in the curfew areas, in order to minimise the risk of a possible spread of COVID-19.
Strict guidelines have been issued for activities in areas not under curfew in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
The Police Headquarters has issued a special notice regarding government, semi-government institutions or statutory boards, corporations and private institutions that are permitted to operate essential services in areas where curfew has been imposed.
Hemmatagama, Mawanella and Bulathkohupitiya Police areas in the Kegalle district have been declared as isolated areas.
