Work on the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) Expansion Project, the largest development project to be launched this year, is all set to commence on November 18.

The Central Environmental Authority (CEA) has introduced a set of guidelines for the disposal of personal protective equipment, like masks and gloves used by people as well as other waste from homes in the areas isolated to prevent spread of COVID-19.

2019 උසස් පෙළ විභාගය පාදක කරගෙන නිකුත් කරන ලද අදාළ ඉසෙඩ් ස්කෝර් අගය සම්බන්ධයෙන් නැවත අධීක්ෂණය කිරීම සඳහා කමිටුවක් පත් කිරීමට කටයුතු කරන බව අධ්‍යාපන අමාත්‍යාංශ ලේකම් මහාචාර්ය කපිල පෙරේරා මහතා ඊයේ පැවැති මාධ්‍යය සාකච්ඡාවකදී පැවසුවේය.

Over 1.4 million families affected by COVID-19 have benefited from State relief programs, with 1,409,578 families receiving the Rs. 5,000 allowance given to low-income families and 43,376 families directed for home quarantine receiving provisions worth Rs. 10,000.

The government has decided to sell the paddy stocks in the possession of the District Secretaries and paddy stocks owned by the Paddy Marketing Board through Sathosa outlets by threshing them into rice. The Director General of Information said Cabinet approval has been granted to sell these rice stocks to consumers under the gazetted price.
