The government will take up the vote on account for debate in parliament when it meets on October 23, an official said yesterday.
Over 50,000 registered voters will go to the polls today to elect members to the Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha (PS) in an electoral test for the country’s three main political parties ahead of the 16 November Presidential Election.
This time around 700,000 applications for postal votes has been received, according to the Election Commission Director Channa P. de Silva.
