Sri Lanka's election monitor People's Action For Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL) has asked Elections Commission Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya to take appropriate action against Dr. Anuruddha Padeniya, President of the Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA), for attending a political event.

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has purchased power at their own discretion without any transparency for the last five years, the Committee on Public Enterprise (COPE) said yesterday. The COPE report which was submitted to Parliament by its Chairman JVP MP Sunil Handunetti said.
