A report prepared on the proposed 20th Amendment was handed over to Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday at the Temple Trees.

The committee appointed to study the proposed 20th Amendment will present their conclusions and recommendations to Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa today, as well as at the Cabinet meeting tomorrow.

The government will not redraft the 20th Amendment to the Constitution, but will incorporate any changes proposed by the nine-member committee only during the committee stage of the debate, a top source said yesterday.

20 වන ආණ්ඩුක‍්‍රම ව්‍යවස්ථා සංශෝධන කෙටුම්පත අධ්‍යයනය කිරීමට අග‍්‍රාමාත්‍ය මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මහතා විසින් පත් කළ කමිටුව ඒ සම්බන්ධයෙන් තවදුරටත් දීර්ඝ ලෙස සාකච්ඡා කිරීමට තීරණය කර තිබෙනවා.

පළාත් සභා අහෝසි කරන්නේ නම් පළාත් සභාවල ඇති බලය පළාත් පාලන ආයතනවලට ලබාදෙන බව පොදුජන පෙරමුණේ ජාතික සංවිධායක බැසිල් රාජපක්ෂ අවධාරණය කර ඇත.

“පළාත් සභා ඡන්ද ක්‍රමය අහෝසිකළ යුතුයි” යන යෝජනාව වලල්ලාවිට ප්‍රාදේශීය සභාවේදී අද (15) ඒකමතිකව සම්මත වී තිබෙනවා.

“ජාත්‍යන්තර ප්‍රජාතන්ත්‍රවාදී දිනය ලෝකයේ ප්‍රජාතන්ත්‍රවාදයේ තත්ත්වය සමාලෝචනය කිරීමට අවස්ථාවක් සපයයි.” ප්‍රජාතන්ත්‍රවාදය සුරක්ෂිත කළ රටක අග්‍රාමාත්‍යවරයා වශයෙන් ජාත්‍යන්තර ප්‍රජාතන්ත්‍රවාදී දිනයට සමගාමීව පණිවිඩයක් නිකුත් කිරීමට ලැබීම පිළිබඳව මම ප්‍රථමයෙන් සතුටට පත් වෙමි.

නව මහාධිකරණ විනිසුරුවරුන් දොළොස් දෙනකුට පත්වීම් ලිපි ප්‍රදානය ජනාධිපති ගෝඨාභය රාජපක්ෂ මැතිතුමා අතින් අද (14) පෙරවරුවේ ජනාධිපති කාර්යාලයේ දී සිදු විය.

මෙරට භූගෝලීය පිහිටීම ප‍්‍රයෝජනයට ගෙන ශ‍්‍රී ලංකාව ලොව ප‍්‍රධානතම නාවික කේන්ද්‍රස්ථානයක් බවට පත් කළ හැකි බව ජනාධිපති ගෝඨාභය රාජපක්ෂ මහතා පවසනවා.
