Government is committed to resolve the issues faced by the up-country Tamils for which late Minister Arumugam Thondaman stood for, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa told Parliament yesterday.

ඕනෑම පනතක් සම්මත වීම සිදුවන්නේ ප්‍රජාතන්ත්‍රවාදී රාමුවක බව කැබිනට් ප්‍රකාශක ජනමාධ්‍ය අමාත්‍ය කෙහෙළිය රඹුක්වැල්ල මහතා ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.

ලබන වසර සදහා නොමිලේ බෙදා හැරිමට අවශ්‍ය පාසල් පෙළපොත් වර්ග 400 ක් මුද්‍රණය කිරිමට කටයුතු සූදානම් කර තිබෙනවා.

“A simple start can make a big difference over time. Therefore, initiate the process with the simplest step. When we came to power in the year 2005, we could not even get out. There was garbage everywhere. There were three garbage mounds within 100 yards from my official residence at that time. Proper waste removal is an easy process. Every Ministry can render a great service with simple tasks,” said President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, addressing State Ministers at the Presidential Secretariat on Thursday.

රටේ නිදහස් සෞඛ්‍ය ආරක්ෂා කිරීමට නව රජය කැපවන බව ගරු අග්‍රාමාත්‍ය මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ මැතිතුමා අද 2020.09.11 දින පැවසීය.

The Government has not held discussions with Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) yet to amend the agreement in a manner so as to remove its clauses that have been deemed detrimental to the country, Capital Markets and State Enterprises Reforms State Minister Ajith Nivard Cabraal told Parliament yesterday.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa yesterday said the High Court Judge who gave the verdict on the Premalal Jayasekera case as well as the Court of Appeal Judges were appointed by the Constitutional Council (CC) in which Karu Jayasuriya, Sajith Premadasa and Thalatha Athukorala were members.

Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena has announced that the public is no longer allowed to visit Parliament, as a temporary measure complying with health guidelines.

The Business Committee of Parliament which met yesterday decided to change the sitting times of the House with effect from the next sitting week. Accordingly, the House sittings will commence at 10 a.m. and continue till 5.30 p.m. starting from 22 Sept.

The Cabinet has decided to change the Ministers’ Public Day to Monday, which was previously on Wednesday, Co-Cabinet Spokesman Minister Udaya said.

අ.පො.ස. සාමාන්‍ය පෙළ විභාගයත් අසමත් පුද්ගලයින් 310 දෙනෙකු මේ වනවිට ශ්‍රී ලංකා වරාය අධිකාරියෙහි සේවයට බඳවාගෙන ඇති බව වරාය අමාත්‍ය රෝහිත අබේගුණවර්ධන මහතා පවසයි.
