කොරෝනා වෛරසයේ බලපෑම හේතුවෙන් පෞද්ගලික බස් රථ 15,000 ක් පමණ මසක් ඇතුළත ධාවනයෙන් ඉවත් කරවීමට සිදුවනු ඇතැයි පෞද්ගලික බස් හිමියන් පවසනවා. ලංකා පෞද්ගලික බස් හිමියන්ගේ සංගමය සඳහන් කළේ අද (21) සිට ධාවනය කරන බස් රථ සංඛ්‍යාවද සියයට 50 කින් අඩු කරන බවයි.

The Meteorology Department yesterday (20) warned of heavy rain, strong winds, rough seas and landslides today (21) in several parts of the country due to low level atmospheric conditions prevailing in the vicinity of Sri Lanka. According to the warning issued for the land area, “due to the low level atmospheric disturbances in the vicinity of Sri Lanka, the prevailing showery condition in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern and Uva Provinces is expected to continue during the next 24 hours. Very heavy rainfalls above 150 mm are likely at some places. Fairly Strong winds (40-50kmph) gusting up to (70-80) Kmph can be expected during showers/thundershowers.”Meanwhile on marine weather, the Meteorology Department issued an advisory for heavy showers, strong winds and rough seas in the deep and shallow sea areas to the South of the island.

The Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) is incurring a loss of Rs.10 million daily as passengers are being carried according to the number of seats available in buses due to COVID-19 conditions.

Lanka Private Bus Owners' Association President Gemunu Wijeratne yesterday said that they had decided to reduce the number of buses and bus journeys operated on certain roads by 50% from next Monday onwards.
