President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has called on the private sector to formulate and present to the Government policies needed to strengthen inclusive and sustainable growth, the President’s Media Division (PMD) said in a statement yesterday. “It is easy to import everything and sell. If we do so we will not be able to build a strong economy. Growth of the economy must take place in a manner that secures the wellbeing of all segments of society.

Following a lengthy discussion, the Central Province Governor has decided to open 42 schools out of the 45 on Monday (14) in the Kandy city limits.

President’s Secretary Dr. P.B. Jayasundera has issued new instructions to State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs), including State-owned banks and financial institutions, to curtail their advertising, marketing and promotional activities and restrict such expenditure to 5% of an SOE’s annual total budgeted operating costs.
