Department of Immigration and Emigration, which was assigned to State Minister of Defence Chamal Rajapaksa, has been brought under the Ministry of Defence by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

මාර්තු 01 වැනිදා සිට 15 වැනිදා දක්වා කාලය තුළ යුරෝපය, ඉරානය හෝ දකුණු කොරියාවේ සිට මෙරටට පැමිණි පුද්ගලයින් ලියාපදිංචි වීම සඳහා ළඟම ඇති පොලිස් ස්ථානය වෙත පැමිණීම අවශ්‍ය නොවන බව පොලිස් මූලස්ථානය නිවේදනය කරනවා.

මාණ්ඩලික නොවන නිලධාරීන් අවශ්‍යතාව සඳහා පමණක් සේවයට කැඳවා ගැනීමට දෙපාර්තමේන්තු හා සෙසු ආයතන ප‍්‍රධානීන්ට අභිමතයක් ලබාදීමට රජය තීරණය කර තිබෙනවා. කෙසේවෙතත්, හෙට රජයේ, බැංකු හෝ වෙළඳ නිවාඩුවක් නොවන බවයි රාජ්‍ය පරිපාලන අමාත්‍යංශය අවධාරණය කළේ.

උද්ගතව ඇති තත්ත්වය හමුවේ මැතිවරණය කල් දැමීමට අවශ්‍ය නම් මැතිවරණ කොමිසමට ඒ සඳහා බලය ඇති බව ජනාධිපති ගෝඨාභය රාජපක්ෂ ප්‍රකාශ කර සිටිනවා. ජනාධිපති ලේකම් කාර්යාලයේ අද පැවති කොරෝනා ජාතික මර්ධන කමිටුවේ රැස්වීමට එක්වෙමින් ජනාධිපතිවරයා මේ බව ප්‍රකාශ කර සිටියා.

The Government last night announced three days of special holiday except for employees of certain sectors. They are health, food supply, transport, essential services, banks and District and Divisional Secretaries.

The Sri Lanka Army has allocated another 23 officers’ bungalows at Diyathalawa for quarantine purposes, said Army Commander and Acting Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva. Speaking to the Daily News, he said that the Army currently operates 12 quarantine centres and in addition, these bungalows would be utilized as well.

Dismissing social media reports that Foreign Relations Minister Dinesh Gunawardana has contracted COVID-19 through a ministry official, the ministry said yesterday he had not come into contact with the said officer who returned to Colombo on March 8.

The National Election Commission has extended the period for the accepting of postal votes for the upcoming general election.

Accepting nominations of candidates for the forthcoming parliamentary election will conclude at 12:00 noon on Thursday at respective District Secretariats of the 22 electoral districts.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa yesterday proposed to leaders of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) to formulate a collective response to combat COVID – 19. He further called for SAARC Ministerial Meeting to discuss measures to overcome this deadly health threat.
