Given the importance and sensitive nature of the COVID-19 vaccine, private hospitals will not be allowed to be involved in the immunisation process, Senior Presidential Advisor Lalith Weeratunga said yesterday.

The Government will provide immunisation against COVID-19 free-of-charge like any other vaccination program, State Minister of Primary Healthcare, Epidemics and COVID Disease Control Dr. Sudarshini Fernandopulle yesterday said.

The Cabinet of Ministers yesterday expressed their appreciation to India for providing 500,000 Oxford AstraZeneca vaccines to Sri Lanka, with the shipment to arrive in Colombo tomorrow.

While condemning the humiliating posts shared by certain netizens in social media targeting Covid-19- infected- Health Minister Pavithra Vanniarachchi, State Minister Sudarshani Fernandopulle said such acts cannot be approved by civilised people.
