A four-member delegation headed by Commissioner General of Inland Revenue of Sri Lanka A.N. Guruge successfully concluded the first round of negotiations on the Agreement for Elimination of Double Taxation between Sri Lanka and Cyprus from 29-31 October in Nicosia, Cyprus. Both sides, considering the future potential of promotion of trade, investment and commercial partnerships between the two countries, agreed to finalise the long pending agreement during the final round of negotiations to be held in February next year in Sri Lanka. The Commonwealth is deploying a team to observe the Presidential Election in Sri Lanka. A ten member Commonwealth Observer Group, led by former Ghanaian Minister of Interior Prosper Bani, will observe the polls, which take place on 16 November.
