From today, (June 6) onwards, in all districts of the island curfew will be effective from 11.00 pm to 4.00 daily until further notice, Presidential Media Division announced.

The Colombo Public Library will be reopened to the public on Monday (8). A media release issued by the library, stated that the library will be open from Monday - Friday from 9 am - 3.30 pm. However, only the lending and reference departments will be open to the public in a limited manner.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has instructed officials to send returnees from foreign countries for quarantine only after results of PCR tests conducted at the airport confirm they are negative for COVID-19, the President’s Media Division (PMD) said in a statement yesterday.

The Government yesterday announced a Rs. 100 billion addition to the Rs. 50 billion refinancing facility of the Central Bank through which banks extend urgent working capital support for businesses hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.
