ජනාධිපති ගෝඨාභය රාජපක්ෂ මහතා අද පෙරවරුවේ සෝමාවතී පුදබිමට පැමිණ සෝමාවතී සෑරදුන් වැඳපුදා ගත්තා. එහිදී සෝමාවතී රාජමහා විහාරාධිපති පූජ්‍ය පහමුණේ ශ‍්‍රී සුමංගල හිමියන් බැහැදැක, ජනාධිපතිවරයා ආශිර්වාද ලබාගත් බවයි ජනාධිපති මාධ්‍ය අංශය පැවසුවේ.

දිවයිනේ විවිධ ප්‍රදේශවල ගොවීන් විසින් වගා කරන සහල්, එලවලු හා පළතුරු ඇතුලු භෝගවර්ග සෙසු ප්‍රදේශවලට ප්‍රවාහණය කිරීම සඳහා දුම්රිය යොදා ගැනීම සම්බන්ධව අවශ්‍ය පියවර ගන්නා ලෙස ප්‍රවාහන සේවා කළමනාකරණ අමාත්‍ය මහින්ද අමරවීර මහතා දුම්රිය සාමාන්‍යාධිකාරිවරයාට උපදෙස් දී තිබුනි.

Foreign Relations, Skills Development, Employment and Labour Relations Minister Dinesh Gunawardena has reassured that the repatriation of migrant workers from the Middle East as well as other regions will continue, the Ministry said in a statement yesterday.

However, the repatriation will be done in a manner sensitive to the vulnerability of these communities, particularly those who have lost legal status and/or employment in their host countries.

This will be done in consultation with the COVID-19 Task Force, in view of the considerable strain presently placed on the health sector and quarantine centres following the increased number of COVID-19 infected persons who have recently returned from Kuwait. It was noted that it is proposed to explore the possibility of getting PCR tests done prior to boarding all flights in future.

The Minister made these observations at a meeting held yesterday at the Foreign Ministry attended by Foreign Secretary Ravinatha Aryasinha, Ministry of Skills Development, Employment and Labour Relations Secretary Sarath Abeygunawardana, Sri Lankan Foreign Employment Bureau (SLBFE) Chairman Kamal Ratwatte, and relevant officials of the two Ministries and the SLBFE.

It was noted that according to the latest update, as at 27 May, 42,522 persons from 123 countries were seeking to return to Sri Lanka. Of these, migrant workers amounted to 34,881 of which 20,893 are living in the Middle East, while 4,961 were short-term visa holders, and 2,016 were students.

“Taking stock of the developments concerning those repatriated from Kuwait, it was noted that of the 466 returnees, 379 were those benefiting from the amnesty who had surrendered to the camps between 21-25 April and had been awaiting repatriation. A total of 87 were those from Kuwaiti detention centres and prisons,” the statement said.

Through Diplomatic Notes on 11 and 14 May, prior to their eventual departure from Kuwait on two Kuwait Airways flights on 19 May, the Sri Lanka Embassy in Kuwait had requested the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kuwait to conduct PCR tests on those being repatriated.

However, the Mission was informed that this would not be possible and that no passenger with COVID-19 symptoms would be allowed to board the aircraft. It had also been stated that PCR tests had not been done on any of the returnees from other countries leaving Kuwait.

ඉදිරියේදී භික්ෂූන් වහන්සේලා හෝ පූජක පක්ෂයේ පූජකතුමන්ලා හෝ කන්‍යා සොයුරියන් කිසිවෙක් සංවර්ධන නිලධාරීන් ලෙස ස්ථානගත නොකරන බවත්, ඔවුන් සියලු දෙනා ගුරුවරුන් ලෙස අධ්‍යාපන පද්ධතියට ඇතුළත් කරගන්නා බවත් අධ්‍යාපන, ක්‍රීඩා හා තරුණ කටයුතු අමාත්‍ය ඩලස් අලහප්පෙරුම මහතා සඳහන් කරයි.

නල්ලතන්නිය ප‍්‍රදේශයේදී මද්දකට හසුව මුදාගැනීමෙන් පසු උඩවලව ඇත්අතුරු සෙවනේදී ප‍්‍රතිකාර ලබමින් සිටියදී මියගිය දුර්ලභ කලූ කොටියා පිළිබඳ මේවනවිට බොහෝ දෙනාගේ කතාබහට ලක්ව තිබෙනවා. පරිසරවේදීන් පෙන්වාදෙන්නේ සතුන් දඩයම් කිරීම සඳහා උගුල් අටවන පුද්ගලයින්ට එරෙහිව නීති සංශෝධනය කර ඒවා දැඩි කිරීමට කටයුතු කළ යුතු බවයි.

මුහුණ දීමට ඇති දුෂ්කරතාව කුමක් වුවද “පළමුව ජනතාව” යන ප්‍රතිපත්තිය අත්හළ නොහැක්කේ අප වඩා අගයන එකම වත්කම මානව සංවර්ධනය නිසා බව ජනාධිපති ගෝඨාභය රාජපක්ෂ මැතිතුමා පවසයි.

අඩු ආදායම්ලාභී පාසල් සිසුන්ට පෝෂ්‍යදායී ආහාර වේලක් ලබාදීමේ රජයේ වැඩපිළිවෙල යටතේ ආහාර වේලක් හිමි සිසුන් ලක්‍ෂ 12කට පසුගිය මාස දෙකක කාලය වෙනුවෙන් වෙන් කළ යුතු මුදලින් වියළි ආහාර මල්ලක් ලබාදීමට අමාත්‍ය මණ්ඩල අනුමැතිය හිමිව තිබේ.

මෙවර පොසොන් උත්සවය වෙනුවෙන් සුරාසැල් වසා තැබෙනු ඇතැයි රජයේ ප්‍රවෘත්ති දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව නිවේදනය කරයි.

අධ්‍යාපන අමාත්‍යාංශය විසින් රජයේ පාසල්හි සේවය කරනු ලබන ගුරුභවතුන් තමා වඩාත් කැමති ස්ථාන සහ ඉගැන්වීමට වඩාත් සුදුසු විෂයයන් පිළිබඳ සොයා බැලිම සඳහා වන සමීක්ෂණය 2020.06.07 දින දක්වා දිර්ඝ කර ඇත.

ශ්‍රී ලංකාවට ආපසු පැමිණීමට අවශ්‍ය බවට ලියාපදිංචි වී ඇති සීෂෙල්ස්හි වෙසෙන එහි රුකියාවල නියුතු ශ්‍රී ලාංකිකයන් පිරිස සැලකිල්ලට ගනිමින් ශ්‍රී ලංකා රජය මෙරටේ දැනට පවතින රෙගුලාසිවලට හා පවතින නිරෝධායන පහසුකම්වලට අනකූලව ඔවුන්ට ශ්‍රී ලංකාවට ආපසු පැමිණීමට පහසුකම් සැලසීමට කටයුතු සූදානම් කරමින් සිටින බව විදේශ කටයුතු අමාත්‍යාංශය නිවේදනය කර සිටිනවා.
