The Health Ministry yesterday rejected claims made online on vaccine sales carried out by Health Ministry officials and Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi’s associates, saying investigations have been launched into websites publishing such claims.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has been urged to declare a two-week lockdown to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

Anyone who is above 55 years of age, suffering from COVID symptoms such as respiratory illnesses and breathing difficulties are strongly advised to get themselves admitted to hospital or seek medical advice, Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID 19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) Gen. Shavendra Silva said.

Five Grama Niladhari (GN) divisions in Batticoloa have been isolated from this morning with immediate effect, Head of the National Operations Center for Prevention of COVID-19, Army Commander General Shavendra Silva said.
