Teachers' and Principals' Unions have warned of a one-day token strike action on November 5 if a circular is not issued to grant them an interim wage, as approved by the cabinet.
In a statement, 29 teachers unions recalled that the Education Ministry, on October 15, had received cabinet approval to grant them an interim wage in addition to their salary, until their salary issues are resolved.
However, they pointed out that this could not be granted until the National Salaries Commission issues a circular authorizing the payment.
Accordingly, they urged that the circular be issued before November 5, failing which they would resort to the strike action.
