The Southern Province Governor has ordered the closure of schools for a second day straight due to the prevailing inclement weather conditions.
Accordingly, Southern Province Governor, Hemal Gunasekara, has ordered all Government schools in the Hambantota District and the Mulatiyana Zone, Matara be closed tomorrow (31).
Yesterday, the Southern Province Governor ordered all schools in the same areas to be closed today (30).
The Met Department has warned that adverse weather conditions would prevail in most parts of the country due to the atmospheric disturbances in the Southwest Bay of Bengal.
In addition, Navy teams have been deployed in key parts of the island in preparation for possible flooding or natural disasters.
