The Parliamentary Select Committee appointed to investigate the Easter Sunday terror attacks has come up with 8 recommendations that need immediate attention.
It recommends that in the face of increasing extremism there is an urgent need to review the entire education system.
Accordingly, all Madrasas, Daham Pasal and Sunday Schools should come under the purview of the Education Ministry. Similarly, all pre-schools, schools, universities and other higher education institutions based on religious or racial lines should be completely banned.
The laws should be formulated where schools can only conduct regular mainstream education and not be able to conduct only religious teachings without the mainstream subjects. The PSC also recommends that all schools should be operated as mixed schools for all races and religions.
