Having 700 intelligence officers, DMI unaware of Easter attacks

The report of the Parliamentary Select Committee appointed to investigate the Easter Sunday terror attacks, despite there being 700 officers in seven regiments of the Army Intelligence Unit, the Director Military Intelligence (DMI) claims not to have received any information regarding the attacks.

In his evidence to the PSC, President Maithripala Sirisena has said, “Despite there being around 700 military intelligence officers not a single word was reported. I vehemently regret that.”

The President had also noted that they had not been aware of the Wanathavilluwa training camp or the destruction of the Mawanella Buddhist statues.
The Military Intelligence is known for their strength and credible information sources and as such the PSC members are baffled over the claims that they had been unaware of any of these incidents.
