SLPP assures solution to Tamils within two years

The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) has assured Tamils a solution to their concerns within two years of assuming office.

SLPP member, Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa tweeted saying from Black July to the end of the war in 2009, Sri Lanka’s Tamil community has faced many problems.

“Following the victory of the @PodujanaParty at the upcoming #PresPollSL, we hope to find solutions to these pressing concerns of the Tamil community during the first two years,” he tweeted.

Namal Rajapaksa was on a visit to the North where he met Tamil community leaders and others and discussed their issues.

“The people in Jaffna in northern Sri Lanka are facing many economic hardships, but another crisis that is affecting every-day life is the lack of access to clean drinking water. The current Government had not made this a priority,” he said.

He also said that he met with the business community in Jaffna and the their main plea was that the North should not be dealt with through the party that supposedly ‘represents’ their interests as they have not done so.
