The Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA) said doctors affiliated with their union will launch another strike campaign anytime after next Wednesday (02) if their salary anomalies remain unresolved.
Speaking to RepublicNext, GMOA spokesman Dr. Prasad Colombage said that though the newly appointed Cabinet sub-committee on salary anomalies held discussions with other executive officers, it did not reach out to the GMOA.
“The other Executive Officers will receive an increment in their salaries, and they have had discussions with the Cabinet sub-committee. But the sub-committee did not have discussions with GMOA. So there is a possibility of our demands not being addressed, in which case we will carry out a continuous strike,” Colombage said.
The GMOA spokesman further said that their union did not engage in trade union action over the past few days considering the difficulties faced by patients who were affected by the inclement weather.
