Northern Province Governor Dr Suren Raghavan has decided to appoint a committee to identify alternative lands for the army and the police in Jaffna in place of the private lands used by them.
It is reported that special attention has been paid to release the lands of 1800 families in the Palali east area and lands of 431 families in the Myliddy area to their original owners.
This has been decided in a discussion held at the Jaffna District Secretariat yesterday.
President Maithripala Sirisena has instructed to take action to release the private lands used by the army and the police in Jaffna as far as possible
It has also been reported that attention has been given to release the lands near the Nadeswara College Railway line as per the request of the Governor.
