A T-56 weapon, a magazine, 30 ammunition, seven detonators and four gelatnite sticks were found buried in Akkaraipattu, Palamunai, Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekera said.
He said chemical substances such as urea and ammonia were also found buried among the weapons.
He said the equipments were found buried at a land near the Oluvil Harbour by the Ampara Police following a tip-off received from the State Intelligence Service (SIS).
Further investigations are being carried out by the police.
