The price of lunch packets will be increased by 20% in the wake of the price of a litre of diesel going up by Rs.113 from last night, Head of the All Island Canteen Owners' Association Asela Sampath said today.
He told the Daily Mirror that the price of lunch packets must be raised due to escalating transportation costs as a result of Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) fuel price too has increased.
"We mostly use three wheelers and mini trucks for transportation and delivery of the lunch packets and other food items. They will definitely increase their transport charges and it will directly affect us, "he said.
Therefore, we cannot say how much the cost of the lunch packets would be, but as a proactive step, we have decided to increase the prices by 20% "Sampath added. (Daily Mirror)
