A proposal was adopted by the members of the Dayaka Sabha of Kelaniya Rajamaha Vihara to remove Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe as the Dayaka Sabha Chairman.
The proposal had been adopted at Dayaka Sabha meeting which was held to discuss arrangements for the Kelaniya Perehera to be held in 2020. Once the agenda items had been discussed, one member has complained that Mr. Wickremesinghe had not been successful as Dayaka Sabha Chairman. Subsequently, advisor prelates had called for a vote in which the majority voted to remove Mr. Wickremesinghe as the Chairman. However, a final decision on the proposal is to be taken at the executive committee meeting of the Dayaka Sabha, on the instructions of the prelates.
