The Meteorology Department has alerted the Disaster Management Centre over warnings of rough sea conditions and strong winds that will prevail today.
The Met. Department forecasts that coastal seas along the seaboard extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil will be rough with wind speeds of up to 60 kmph while the seaboard from Puttalam to Trincomalee via Mannar and Kankesanthurai can be rough at times. Temporary strong gusty winds of up to 80 kmph can be expected along with thundershowers. Naval units and fishing communities have been asked to be vigilant in this regard.
