The prevailing showery conditions are expected to increase to an extent in parts of the country over the next few days, particularly in the south west of the island, the Department of Metrology said today (20).
Showers or thundershowers will occur in the Western, Sbaragamuwa, Central and Northwestern provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.
The Met Department said heavy rainfall of about 100 mm can be expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Uva provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.
Showers or thundershowers may also occur at several places in the Uva, North-Central and Eastern provinces and in the Hambantota district after 2.00 pm.
Temporary localised strong winds are expected during thundershowers, the Met Department added.
