Former Sri Lankan cricketer Kumar Sangakkara is to work with the Commonwealth to help promote peace.
Commonwealth Secretary-General Patricia Scotland said that she had a meeting with Sangakkara during which he expressed his commitment to work with the Commonwealth to deliver “Peace at the Crease”.
“My thanks to @KumarSanga2 for a fantastic meeting and his commitment to working with #Commonwealth to deliver Peace at the Crease,” Patricia Scotland tweeted.
Sangakkara thanked the Commonwealth Secretary-General for giving him the opportunity to be part of the initiative.
“It was indeed a pleasure and thank you for allowing me to be involved. It’s a wonderful initiative that is timely and relevant. I’m sure there will be many like minded people and institutions joining hands with #Commonwealth to deliver peace at the crease,” he said.
