Register as a voter before 19 Jan: PAFFREL

The Draft of the Voter Registry 2020 can be accessed on the Election Commission’s website, and voters who wish to add or amend their names/details can make a request to the District Election Office in their respective district, with copies of relevant documents, the People’s Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL) announced yesterday (12).

“Those who were unable to submit the completed registration forms (BC form), can submit a request form to the relevant District Election Office before 19 January, and the relevant application forms can be obtained from the Grama Niladhari Offices, Divisional Secretariats, and also District Election Offices,” PAFFREL said, adding that this is the last opportunity voters will receive for registration.

The public can also raise objections if this list contains the names of individuals who are ineligible to vote.

Making a comprehensive voters’ registry is not only the responsibility of the Election Commission, PAFFREL said, adding that extending active assistance for this purpose is a duty and a responsibility of the public and political parties.
