Pakistani Foreign Minister Shad Mahmood Qureshi called on President Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday. A President’s Media communique said that Pakistan’s Foreign Minister extended warm greetings to President Rajapaksa on his and his government’s behalf. Qureshi expressed Pakistan’s keen interest in further strengthening bilateral relations with Sri Lanka especially in the areas of economic development, trade, security cooperation and regional cooperation, the communique said.

Pakistani Minister of Foreign Affairs Shah Mehmood Qureshi, who arrived in Sri Lanka for an official visit yesterday, is scheduled to meet President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and Foreign Affairs Minister Dinesh Gunawardena today.

Maldives Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid is to visit Sri Lanka to have talks with the new Government.

China and Sri Lanka yesterday agreed to speed up the implementation of large-scale projects and draw up a “new blueprint” for future cooperation following high-level meetings between President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Chinese special envoy Wu Jianghao.

China Foreign Ministry Department of Asian Affairs Director-General Wu Jianghao called on Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday.
