The Government is considering relaxing the curfew in districts where covid 19 has had no effect, after the April festive season. The Government yesterday called on the public to continue supporting the measures taken to counter COVID-19, despite the hardships created by prolonged curfew.

The curfew will be lifted only once the coronavirus (COVID-19) threat is eliminated, the Ministry of Defence said yesterday.

With the detection of the first Coronavirus positive patient in Sri Lanka, the State Intelligence Service has made a huge contribution to prevent the spread of the virus on the directions of the President and in comparison with other countries Sri Lanka holds a special place in its efforts to control the spread of the Covid-19, said DIG Ajith Rohana.

The Presidential Secretariat had received information about several instances of fraudsters collecting money using COVID-19 Healthcare and Social Security Fund as cover, the President's Media Division (PMD) said. The Secretary to the President requested the public to make their contributions to the Fund only through direct bank deposits, cheques or any other approved mean and not to donate money to any organizations or individuals.
