Army Commander and Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID 19 Outbreak, Lt. General Shavendra Silva says a curfew in several areas in the Western Province which is currently in effect will be lifted as planned on Monday at 5 am and this will not be extended.

A Chinese expert is due to arrive in Sri Lanka to fix the main PCR machine that had recently malfunctioned, the National Operations Center for the Prevention of COVID-19 (NOCPC) said.

බෙදුම්වාදී යුද්ධය අවසන් කිරීමෙන් පසු රටේ යටිතල පහසුකම් සංවර්ධනයට චීනය උදව් කළ බවත් එහි ප්‍රතිඵලයක් ලෙස ශ්‍රී ලංකාව ණය උගුලක සිරවූයේ නැති බව ජනාධිපති ගෝඨාභය රාජපක්ෂ මහතා පවසයි.

ශ්‍රී ලංකා ගුවන් හමුදාවේ 18 වැනි ගුවන් හමුදාපති ලෙස එයාර් මාර්ෂල් සුදර්ශන පතිරණ පත් කර ඇත. ජනාධිපති ගෝඨාභය රාජපක්ෂ විසින් ඊයේ (29 වැනිදා) මෙම පත් කිරීම කරනු ලැබීය.

The Health Ministry has decided to suspend all activities at shops, economic centres, beauty salons, massage centres or Spas, gatherings and meetings including religious activities in the Western Province from today. Addressing the media Chief Epidemiologist Dr. Sudath Samaraweera said the decision was taken as a precautionary measure to control the spread of the COVID-19 virus. He said the 335 COVID positive patients reported yesterday were identified from the city limits of the Colombo Municipality. The COVID-19 virus seems to be spreading rapidly in the Western Province than in other districts due to various activities, Dr Samaraweera added.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa on Thursday emphasized the need of conducting random PCR tests covering the entire country to identify COVID-19 patients, the President’s Media Division (PMD) said.

Quarantine curfew will be imposed within the Western Province from midnight tomorrow (29) until 5 a.m. on Monday (November 2), Army Commander, Shavendra Silva said.

Secretary to the President PB Jayasundra has issued a circular to enforce a ‘work from home’ system for State Institutions in the Western Province.

It is reported that a tax has been imposed on imported dried fish, sprats and maldive fish from Oct. 27th.

The Health Ministry has instructed the National Drug Regulatory Authority (NDRA) to carry out the supply of drugs to the public during the curfew period without any interruption. The Ministry issuing a special notice requested the NDRA to carry out the distribution of drugs to households in curfew areas using their pharmacy license as a curfew license. The decision was taken as per the instructions of the Presidential Task Force on Economic Revival and Poverty Eradication.
