Government accuses state media of failing in its duties

The Government today accused state media of failing in its duties over the past few years.

Non Cabinet Minister of Digital Infrastructure and Information Technology Ajith P. Perera told reporters today that the state media had failed to give the true picture of deals involving the Government.

He said that misleading information is being spread with regards to the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) agreement with Sri Lanka.

Perera said that it is the duty of state media to give the correct picture about the agreement as the Government is busy with election work.

The Non Cabinet Minister said that the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna has failed to publicly mention specific concerns with regards to the proposed agreement.

He said that if there are any grey areas in the agreement the Government is prepared to review and amend those clauses.
