President Maithripala Sirisena said brave soldiers have been able to overcome all hostilities against Motherland.

The President expressed these views at the passing out ceremony held at the Katukurunda Special Forces Training School on Saturday (5).

A total of 274 officers, including 50 junior police inspectors, 183 junior police constables and 41 female constables, who successfully completed the 76th basic training course at the Katukurunda Special Forces Training School passed out on Saturday morning.

The President, after paying floral tributes to the War Memorial in the Training School, opened the National Center for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive Operational Monitoring.

Addressing the gathering, the President said although there are various allegations levelled against public servants in the country, there is no such allegation against the Police Special Task Force.

The President stated that the Police Special Task Force was established in the early 1980s to combat anti-government and terrorist activities in the North and East. The President also said the war heroes who lost their lives during the war would be honoured by the entire nation.

Drill shows and parachute drops featured the event.
