Increased budget allocation for clay, cane, jewellery and wood - Cabraal

State Minister of Finance Capital Markets and Public Enterprise Reforms Ajith Nivard Cabraal says that the government is paying more attention to uplift local industries including pottery, cane, gems and jewellery and wood carving.

He says the government is also considering allocating large sums of money for these industries in the forthcoming budget.

Accordingly, all locally produced products will be given priority in the forthcoming budget, the Minister said.

He said the focus is on providing more incentives to local and foreign investors for those industries and encouraging investment.

Minister Cabraal said the government aims to increase foreign exchange earnings by exporting local products, especially by promoting Sri Lanka's traditional industries and creating a world market that suits them.
