Office closure could be extended over Covid-19 fears

The government is looking into the need of keeping all government and private offices closed for a few days, in the wake of the Covid-19 threat.

Officials are currently in talks with regard to curbing the disease's spread.

Speaking to 'Sri Lanka Mirror', a highly placed government official said that they will observe the situation and take a decision in the next few hours.

Today has been declared a public, bank and mercantile holiday by the government.

However, secretary of the Ministry of Health - Bhadrani Jayawardene said essential health services will take place today regardless of the holiday declaration.
