Shermila Rajapakshe has been appointed as the Director General of the National Zoological Gardens, the Department of National Zoological Gardens said.
The Department said she was scheduled to assume duties on October 28.
She had earlier served as the head of the social media unit of the Presidential Secretariat.
She was appointed after Ishini Wickremesinghe resigned as the Director General of the National Zoological Gardens recently.
