The Road Development Authority will finalise the awarding of the construction contract for the long-delayed Sections III & IV of the Central Expressway Project (CEP), with Section III to be awarded to a Chinese company, and Section IV to be awarded to a UK-based contractor, the Belt & Road Initiative Sri Lanka (BRISL) stated on Monday (31).
The 37km Section I of the CEP from Kadawatha to Mirigama was scheduled to be constructed by a Chinese contractor at an estimated cost of around Rs 158 billion obtained as a loan from the Export-Import (EXIM) Bank of China, BRISL added.
The construction of Sections III and IV will begin immediately upon gaining Cabinet approval.
