JVP says no to common platform

JVP has rejected the invitation to form a common platform with other parties in the opposition against the government's anti-democratic moves.

The JVP has explained that the aim of such a common platform is to enable the UNP and SJB to grab power and that taking part in such moves may cause political disadvantages to the JVP.

The JVP has informed them that they will not take part in joint media briefings or attend joint political rallies.

HOwever, informed sources said JVP initially agreed to attend a joint media briefing, but later changed their mind.

At the sametime, JVP is not taking part in the National Movement for Just Society which plays a crucial role in organising the opposition parties.

The JVP even did not attend the seminar organised by the NMJS on Mach 04.Rajitha Senarathna joined the seminar as a representative of SJB leader Sajith Premadasa.

Besides, Champika Ranawaka, Mangala Samaraweera, Kumara Welgama, Rishad Bathurdeen, Mano Ganesan, P. Digambaran and several UNP members had attended the seminar.
