Alliance Air, a wholly owned subsidiary of Air India is all set to expand globally and commence commercial flight operations from Jaffna International Airport to Chennai International Airport from 11 November. The airline is pleased to announce that there will be direct flight operations connecting the two cities on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.

India and Sri Lanka yesterday discussed mutual cooperation in the field of Law and Information Technology (IT).

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Scientific and Technical Cooperation was signed between Sri Lanka and Australia on 05 November 2019 in Canberra.

The Government of Republic of Korea has agreed to provide a concessional loan of USD 30 million (Approximately Rs.5,460 million) to establish National Center of e-Content Development for Computer Assisted Teaching in Sri Lanka. The objectives of the proposed project are to; Improve ICT teaching and learning environment for secondary education in Sri Lanka, enhance teachers’ ICT education capacity, and provide equal opportunity for education for every student including those living in rural areas.

MP Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe yesterday claimed that Sri Lanka would not benefit from the Millennium Challenge Cooperation (MCC) pact and that not even a cent would be received by the Treasury.

While welcoming the cabinet decision to approve the MCC pact, the US today said it anticipates working toward grant signing and parliamentary approval with the Sri Lankan Government after November 16.

"No country can solve the problem of world economic development alone. Countries should adhere to the concept of human priority, rather than putting their own interests above human interests," Chinese president - Xi Jinping said.
