Sri Lanka to rebuild UK investor confidence via London RIU forum

In an effort to rebuild confidence among the Diaspora and foreign investors and reassure the world that Sri Lanka is a safe place to invest, the Research Intelligence Unit (RIU) will be hosting its next prestigious RIU Investor Forum on June 27 in London in association with the Sri Lankan High Commission in London.

Multiple sectors such as Real Estate, Fashion, Apparel and many others are joining hands to promote Sri Lanka as a safe investment option, the company said in a media release.

RIU CEO, Roshan Madawela said: “Right now, more than ever, Sri Lanka needs to prove its resilience and bounce back stronger. We should not forget the fact that Sri Lanka has been a very peaceful country for the past 10 years.

“Sri Lankans should not feel shattered by just one terror attack in 3650 days. Countries that have encountered terror attacks more often than Sri Lanka are proven to have risen stronger and RIU’s Investor Forum in London is an effort to showcase our resilience to the world,”he added.

The Forums objective is to promote and channel investment into Sri Lanka from among the high net worth individuals (HNI) living overseas while also building strong interest among the investor community based in key global financial hubs.

“The UK is easily the most significant diaspora market for Sri Lanka both in terms of quality and quantity. We look forward to concluding yet another successful event in the UK together with our sponsors and associates,” he pointed out.

The United Kingdom has over 436,000 UK citizens with Sri Lankan origin and they maintain a regular financial or real estate related presence in their country of origin.

The event will bring together experts from disciplines; property development and management, infrastructure development and economics

The forum will be a business networking platform with the focus of expert commentators and the audience being on the current real estate and non-real estate opportunities in Sri Lanka.

This year, the event will provide over 350 face to face networking opportunities with the UK diaspora community. International investors from multiple disciplines, looking at Sri Lanka will also be present.

As the World Cup Cricket tournament will be held in the UK during this time, there will be other surprises installed such as special guest appearances will be made by international cricket stars.

The Research Intelligence Unit (RIU) is headquartered in London with its regional office in Colombo.
