President to scrutinize all cabinet papers

The President is to scrutinize all Cabinet papers due to the prevailing economic situation in the country, sources from the Presidential Secretariat say.

Accordingly, steps have already been taken to scrutinize Cabinet papers before they are tabled at the Cabinet meeting.

A pre-cabinet meeting will be held a day ahead of the cabinet meeting, in the presence of the Prime Minister, the Secretary to the President, the Secretary to the Prime Minister, the Secretary to the Ministry of Finance and the Cabinet Secretary.

It is also learned that all the papers submitted will be taken up at this pre-cabinet meeting and only the necessary cabinet papers will be presented at the next Cabinet meeting on the following day.
