Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says there is wide consensus for devolution of powers within a united Sri Lanka.
A statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office today quoted Wickremesinghe as saying that steps must be taken to ensure the country is not divided.

The Prime Minister said that both Parliament and the Sri Lankan public will need to make a final decision on Constitutional reforms.
A process to introduce a new Constitution was launched by the current Government but the process eventually stalled.
