Since petroleum-related services have been declared under essential category, legal action will be taken against any employee or trade union that would be found violating the essential service regulations, Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said.
He said the petroleum services have been declared essential six months ago.
However, several petroleum trade unions have decided to launch a massive trade union action against the conduct of a full forensic audit of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC).
Therefore, the minister advised taking immediate legal action for disruption in services and assured to take disciplinary action against them. (Daily Mirror)
