President and Gnanasara thero exchange files in prison!

President Maithripala Sirisena who visited the Welikada Prison yesterday (18) called on the Bodu Bala Sena General Secretary Ven. Galagoda Atte Gnanasara Thera and had a long private discussion with him.

This discussion has been held at the jailer's room of the prison hospital and no one has participated in it, except the two.

Speaking to 'Sri Lanka Mirror the Executive Director of the Bodu Bala Sena (BBS), Dr. Dilantha Vithanage said that although the Gnanasara Thera and the President personally held a 42-minute discussion, he did not know the facts discussed.

It is also said that the President has been given a few files containing information on the National Tawheed Jamaat and the ISIS by Gnanasara Thera.

However, according to information received from prison sources, Gnanasara Thero has revealed to the President about the situation in the country and findings of the Bodu Bala Sena Organization on the National Tawheed Jamaat and ISIS terrorists.

It is also reported that the President has inquired about the release of Ven. Gnanasara Thero and other judiciary processes. Prison sources say that the president had left the prison promising to meet the venerable thera again.

BBS special message

Meanwhile, a special message sent by the Bodu Bala Sena Organization to its active members throughout the country states;

"On this occasion, we kindly request to refrain from engaging in any protest against that would cause religious conflict, considering the unrest and disturbances in the country.

Bodu Bala Sena says that peace is a necessary factor for country’s development and defeating all violence and terrorism is part and parcel of achieving the goal.

It says they must take steps to fight against the injustice done against Gnanasara Thera and release him, and they have the official responsibilities of the Bodhu Bala Sena and contact them for the necessary instructions.

The message from the Executive Director of the Bodhu Bala Sena Dr. Dilantha Vithanage has also emphasized the following:

“We need to follow constitutional and democratic methods to free Gnanasara Thera, and we must follow the methods of Dharmapala and Gandhi, but some elements are holding media shows and contracting for political and financial gain ".
