Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said that Sri Lanka does not need Sharia Universities.
He said this to the media subsequent to a special meeting held at Temple Trees on the special draft bill on the control of Madrasas and Islamic establishments in the country.
He noted that all institutions offering degrees in this country must provide access to everyone.
The meeting which was held under the patronage of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe was also attended by Minister M.H.A. Haleem and representatives of the Postal, Muslim Religious Affairs Ministry and officials of the Attorney General’s Department.
